1982 All-Star Game
The 1982 All-Star Game was played on Tuesday, July 13, 1982. The National League won the fifty-third midsummer classic by a score of 4 to 1. The game was played at Olympic Stadium in Montreal, QC in front of 59,057 fans. It was the first time the game was played outside the USA. The MVP was Dave Concepcion of the Cincinnati Reds.
The American League team was led by manager Billy Martin and coaches Sparky Anderson and Dick Howser. Bob Lemon, who had managed the New York Yankees in the previous year's World Series should rightfully have managed the American league team; however, he had been fired 14 games into the season and was replaced by his opponent in the 1981 ALCS, Oakland Athletics' manager Martin.
