1996 Little League World Series
The 1996 Little League World Series was the 17th won by a team from Taiwan. The team from Kaohsiung County was the 12th Taiwan team in a 23-year period to claim a Little League World Series title but in the decade following no Taiwan team has won. Chin-Hsiung Hsieh set a Series record with 7 homers, including one in the 13-3 finale romp over Cranston, RI. The 95-pound Hsieh hit .706. Future minor leaguers Chi-Hung Cheng and Chao-Kuan Wu were also on the Taiwan squad while three future major leaguers appeared: Jeff Clement (Marshalltown, IA), Adam Loewen (Surrey, BC) and Clete Thomas (Panama City, FL).
