1951 Little League World Series
The 1951 Little League World Series was the 5th Little League World Series. Teams involved were San Bernardino, CA (the first Californian entry), Stamford, CT, Pensacola, FL, Chicago, IL, Portland, ME (the first team from Maine), Potter-McKean, PA, Austin, TX and Fairmont, WV (the only West Virginian team, through 2013). In the finale, Stamford beat Austin, 3-0. Andy Wasil fanned 16 in a 3-hit shutout (walking 5) and also hit a two-run homer, while Bill Pustari went 3 for 3 with a run. Wasil had a 0.00 ERA in 12 2/3 IP for the Series while Pustari was 7-for-8. L. Kitchen struck out 11 in the finale loss.
