2003 Little League World Series
The 2003 Little League World Series was the 57th Little League World Series. Teams were Glace Bay, NS, Willemstad, Agana, Tokyo, Mexico City, Moscow, Dhahran, Altagracia, Zulia, Chandler, AZ, Wilmington, DE (the first Delaware representative ever), Boynton Beach, FL, Eldridge, IA, Saugus, MA, Tallmadge, OH, Richmond, TX and Richland, WA.
Higlights included Wilfredo Sanchez (Altagracia) getting 7 straight hits (one shy of the record), Cory Bernard (Chandler) becoming the 4th LLWS player to hit three homers in a game (his 13 total bases tying for third all-time) and Saguas edging Richmond 14-13 to tie for the second-most runs in a game. 4 Japanese hurlers combined to no-hit Dhahran. Richmond included future major leaguer Randal Grichuk.
In the finale, Tokyo romped past Boynton Beach, 10-1. Hokutu Nakahara was 2 for 3 with a three-run homer, double and four RBI while Yutaro Tanaka overcame 8 walks by fanning 14 and allowing 3 hits in a complete game. Michael Broad took the loss with 6 runs in 3 2/3 IP.
