1956 Little League World Series
The 1956 Little League World Series was the 10th Little League World Series and marked the year before the league became more of an international event. The teams were Auburn, AL, Colton, CA, Winchester, MA, Hamtramck, MI, Merchantville, NJ, Roswell, NM (the only New Mexican team through 2013), Tuckahoe, NY and Upper Darby, PA. Fred Shapiro of Delaware Township threw a perfect game. In the finale, Roswell beat Delaware, 3-1, as R. Hayman walked 9 in 3 2/3 IP for New Jersey. T. Jordan hit a 3-run homer and fanned 10 in a two-hitter for Roswell.
