The 1948 Little League World Series was the second Little League World Series. There were eight teams: Hammonton, NJ, Lock Haven, PA, Harrisburg, PA, Loyalsock, PA, Middletown, CT, St. Petersburg, FL, Alexandria, VA and Corning, NY (the latter four were the first entries from their states). Paul Shirey of Williamsport threw a no-hitter against Williamsport, the first no-hitter in the Little League World Series. In the finale, Lock Haven beat St. Petersburg, 6-5, as pitcher Kelly fanned 12, C Cardamone scored two and 3B J. Heckman drove in two. For St. Petersburg, B. Widenar took the loss while 1B D. Eberle hit a two-run homer.
