2022 U-23 Baseball World Cup
The 2022 U-23 Baseball World Cup is the 4th edition of the U-23 Baseball World Cup . Participating were South Korea, Germany, Japan, Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, Puerto Rico the Netherlands, Cuba, South Africa, Taiwan and Australia.

- Taiwan 6, Colombia 2. I-Wei Lee drove in the game-winning run with a double to help the hosts win the opening game. Yan-Cheng Wang grabbed the win with 1 2/3 of shutout innings.

- Puerto Rico 5, Cuba 0. Alexander Castro, Osvaldo Berríos, Jerryell Rivera and Sebastian Rodriguez combined on a two-hitter. Ricky De La Torre was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI.
- Venezuela 9, South Africa 0. Wikelman Ramírez struck out 11 in 6 1/3 shutout innings, and Michael Chirinos went 3-for-3 with 2 RBI. Joshua Wentzel get South Africa's only hit.
- Mexico 3, Australia 2. Javier Sanchez hit a game-winning RBI single in the 8th inning, and Fernando Sánchez struck out 7 in 4 1/3 innings. Chris Burke was 2-for-2 with a RBI for Australia.
- Japan 6, Germany 0. Ren Tomida, Yuki Tani, Takuto Yanagihashi, Ryotaro Sawayanagi and Ryusei Gonda struck out 9 in a 2-hitter. Yuto Nakada was 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored.
- South Korea 4, Netherlands 0. The 4th shutout of the day was anchored by Sang-young Lee's 6 strong innings with 4 Ks. Dylan Farley struck out 7 in 5 innings but got the loss due to Jang-han Oh's RBI grounder.
October 15[edit]
- Colombia 10, South Africa 0. RSA was shut out again in a six-inning mercy rule game. Hernando Mejía, Luis Arrieta and José Altamiranda fanned 12 in a 2-hitter, and Roger Caraballo went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI.
- Taiwan 3, Germany 0. Another shutout for the hosts, presented by Yan-Fong Lai and Chi-Ling Hsu, who combined to strike out 8 with only 2 hits allowed. Chen-Tso Tseng and Sheng-Ping Chen both got 2 hits.
- Japan 5, Venezuela 2. Hiroki Nakagawa went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI to help Japan win a close game. Jesús Chirinos was 2-for-3 and knocked in both runs for Venezuela.
October 16[edit]
- Colombia 8, Venezuela 7. The most fierce competition in this round. Venezuela took a 4-run lead in the first three innings, but Brayan Buelvas tied the game with a 2-run shot in the 4th inning. Gabriel Hernández blanked his opponent in the 8th inning, then Buelvas ended the game with a walk-off single.
- Germany 10, South Africa 0. As expect, South Africa was shut out in their third straight games. Florian Kawczynski fanned 8 in a 6-inning mercy-rule shutout, and Finn Bergmann collected 2 hits with 2 RBI.
- Mexico 4, Netherlands 0. Alemao Hernandez, Jose Luis Reyes and Alan Mundo combined to four-hit the Netherlands with 8 strikeouts, and Angel Camacho was 2-for-3 for Mexico. Scott Prins struck out 8 but got the loss.
- Taiwan 3, Japan 1. Two strong teams of group A met each other, and Taiwan overcame Japan in a 2-run game. Chen-Wei Lin, Hsin-Yen Chuang and Chen Zhong-Ao Zhuang combined to strike out 12, and Sung-En Tseng went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI. Ren Onishi knocked in Japan's only run.
- South Korea 4, Cuba 0. Six Korean hurlers completed a shutout, and Seung-hwan Song hit a walk-off grand slam against Andy Vargas Lezcaille.
October 17[edit]
- Venezuela 7, Germany 3. The defending champion stayed alive with a 3-run win. Jesús Chirinos, Ezequie Alfonzo and Yoandy Rea all got 2 hits and drove in a run.
- Puerto Rico 3, Mexico 2. The game was tied 1-1 after 7, and Mexico scored first in the 8th inning thanks to a wild pitch from Osvaldo Berrios. However, Ricky De La Torre then hit a walk-off double, and Puerto Rico got their second win.
- Japan 4, Colombia 1. Ren Tomida only allowed one unearned run with 8 strikeouts, and Hiroki Nakagawa went 3-for-3 with 2 runs scored.
- Taiwan 14, South Africa 1. Taiwan remained unbeaten as they destroyed South Africa in 5 innings. Sheng-Hao Chang knocked in 3 runs, and I-Wei Lee drew 3 walks.
- Netherlands 3, Cuba 2. Aaron De Groot completed 4 2/3 shutout innings with 7 Ks after Koen Postelmans allowed 2 runs in the first inning, and Tommy van de Sanden got the winning score with a double steal in the 6th inning.
- South Korea 4, Australia 3. Korea got their 4th straight win, in a 1-run game. Ki-joong Kim fanned 8 in 4 shutout innings, and Dong-hee Yoon was 2-for-2 with 2 RBI.
October 18[edit]
- Australia 8, Puerto Rico 0. Jack Waters, Joseph Ranford and Jayden Bastow completed a 3-hitter with 7 Ks, and Alex Hall went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI.
- Colombia 7, Germany 0. Santiago Flórez and Gabriel Hernández 2-hit Germany with 6 strikeouts, and Jair Camargo crushed a 2-run homer.
- Japan 9, South Africa 0. South Africa was shut out the fourth time in the event. Ryota Kudo, Yuki Tani, Takuto Yanagihashi, Raiku Katayama and Tetsuyuki Fujimura combined to strike out 12 with only 5 hits allowed, and Hisaya Nammoku went 3-for-5 with 2 RBI.
- Cuba 2, Mexico 0. Alexander Valiente, Marlon Vega and Frank Álvarez struck out 6 in a 3-hit shutout.
- South Korea 3, Puerto Rico. Korean remained unbeaten with a 1-run game thanks to Han-byul Kim's walk-off infield single in the 8th inning. Seung-ju Han completed 6 innings with only a run allowed, and Jan Figueroa struck out 6 in 4 1/3 innings.
- Australia 5, Netherlands 4. Australia's Travis Bazzana tied the game with a single in the 7th inning, and Jarryd Dale then knocked in the game-winning run to help his nation advance to the super round.
- Taiwan 4, Venezuela 3. Chen-Tso Tseng walked it off with a single against José Guzmán, and Taiwan won all 5 games in the first round.
October 19[edit]
- Cuba 3, Australia 1. Guillermo García's 2-run double helped Cuba got their second win.
- Netherlands 4, Puerto Rico 1. With the scored tied 1-1 after 7, Darryl Collins's 2-RBI bunt single helped Netherlands defeat their opponent.
- South Korea 1, Mexico 0. Fernando Sánchez struck out 8 in a one-hitter in 5 innings, but Sang-young Lee outdueled him with 7 shutout innings. Brandon Valenzuela's throwing error in the 8th inning helped Korea won all 5 games in the first round.
October 20[edit]
- Colombia 4, Mexico 3. Colombia rally from a 3-1 deficit in the 5th inning thanks to two walks and a wild pitch.
- Japan 2, Australia 1. Ren Tomida extended his elite performance, and he struck out 8 in 6 innings. Kanta Aiba drove in the winning RBI in the 4th inning with a 2-RBI single against Matt Beattie.
- South Korea 6, Taiwan 2. Two unbeaten teams met each other in the opener of the super round, and Korea completed two squeeze plays in the 2nd inning and knocked in 4 runs thanks to pitcher Hsin-Yen Chuang's error.
- Venezuela 3, Netherlands 0. Carlos Naveda and Carlos Valero struck out 6 in a one-hitter, and Carlos Mendoza was 2-for-2 with 2 walks.
- Cuba 3, Germany 2. Randy Cueto got the win with 3 1/3 shutout innings, and Andrys Pérez's sacrifice fly gave Cuba their winning run.
- Puerto Rico 10, South Africa 0. Yadiel Rolon completed 5 innings in a mercy-rule shutout. Ezequiel Pagan was 3-for-3, and Dilan Rosario got 3 RBI.
October 21[edit]
- Mexico 2, Taiwan 1. The host got their second straight loss in the super round. Mexico's Ruben Salinas's pinch-hit RBI single in the 8th inning was the winning RBI. Chen Zhong-Ao Zhuang struck out 7 in 3 shutout innings, and Jordan Suarez also fanned 4 in 4 1/3 innings.
- Colombia 8, Australia 6. Branlyn Jaraba was 3-for-4 with 4 RBI and Colombia won the batter's contest. Jarryd Dale was 3-for-4 for Australia, and his teammate Solomon Maguire drove in 3 runs.
- Japan 2, South Korea 1. Japan topped their East Asia rival with the same score in their last game. Tetsuyuki Fujimura, Takuto Yanagihashi, Ryotaro Sawayanagi and Ryusei Gonda completed a 2-hitter, and Jin Nakamura's nice diving play ended Korea's hopes in the 7th inning.
- Cuba 2, Venezuela 0. Roberto Enrique Hernández and Leodán Reyes struck out 4 in a 3-hit shutout. Carlos Monier and Andrys Perez both got a RBI.
- Netherlands 17, South Africa 4. Jeandro Tromp was 2-for-3 with 5 RBI, Yurdion Martie drove in 4 runs and Jair Van Borkulo went 2-for-3 with 3 RBI. Netherlands had the largest single-game run differential of the event.
- Puerto Rico 3, Germany 1. Shawn Ross's two-run homer in the 7th inning help Puerto Rico came from behind and grabbed the win. Juan Marcano got the win with 4 strikeouts in 3 shutout innings.
October 22[edit]
- Japan 4, Mexico 2. Japan won all three games in the super round. Raiku Katayama was hitless in 5 innings with 6Ks, and Kaito Saida went 2-for-2 with 2 RBI.
- Australia 3, Taiwan 0. Against expectations, the hosts lost every game in the super round. Jack Waters and Ky Jackson completed a one-hit shutout, and Chen-Wei Lin got the loss as he walked 4 in the first inning.
- South Korea 5, Colombia 4. Seung-hwan Song broke up a Colombian double play attempt in the 8th inning to allow Seong-bin Son to score the winning run. Carlos Arroyo was 4-for-4 with 2 RBI for Colombia.
- Cuba 9, South Africa 0. Another shutout against South Africa, this time performed by Alexander Valiente, Oscar Hernández and Alex Guerra, who combined to strike out 10 African batters. Yuri Fernández was 3-for-4.
- Venezuela 4, Puerto Rico 2. Kenedy Corona crushed a solo shot in the first inning, and Anthony Escobar struck out 5 in 4 shutout innings.
- Netherlands 3, Germany 0. Aaron De Groot, Kevin Bakker and Jefrem Leon only allowed 3 hits with 9 strikeouts in a shutout win. Jeandro Tromp was 2-for-2.
October 23[edit]
- Taiwan 3, Mexico 1. Taiwan finally ended their 3-game losing streak and won Bronze. Chen-Hsun Lee struck out 4 in 5 innings, and Sheng-Ping Chen was 2-for-3 while driving in all three runs of Taiwan.
- Japan 3, South Korea 0. Japan won Gold with a 2-hit shutout win by five pitchers, and Masashi Maruyama crushed a game-winning, 3-run home run in the 3rd inning against Sang-young Lee.
