Biographical Information

Ren Tomida has pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Tomida represented Japan in the 2022 U-23 Baseball World Cup, going 2-0 with a 0.44 ERA; he struck out 21 and allowed 7 hits in 16 innings. He beat Colombia's Rubén Galindo and Australia's Matt Beattie. Australia won the title; he trailed only Takuto Yanagihashi in wins (by one) and trailed only Wikelman Ramírez in K (by 2). He was named the All-Star SP. He was drafted by the Hanshin Tigers in the 6th round of the 2023 NPB draft; the scout was Kazuya Tsutsui. He pitched 9 games with a 4.50 ERA in 2023, and he had a solid 0.76 ERA in 33 relief outings with 4 holds in 2024. He won 2 votes in the CL Rookie of the Year Voting.
