Biographical Information[edit]

Neil Adonis was South Africa's main designated hitter in the 1999 All Africa Games, backing up Nick Dempsey at 1B as well. He went 10 for 19 with 3 doubles, 3 homers, 12 RBI and one error. As South Africa dominated the field, his numbers did not lead the team. He only tied for 5th in RBI and was third in slugging (behind Ian Holness and Willem Kemp). He was second in homers, two behind Holness. He had 5 RBI in the win over second-place Nigeria. He remained at DH in the 2000 Olympics, going 0 for 8 with four strikeouts.

He later became a coach for the South African national team, performing that role in the 2005 Baseball World Cup, 2007 Baseball World Cup, 2008 Final Olympic Qualification Tournament, 2009 World Baseball Classic, 2009 Baseball World Cup, 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers and 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. He also managed South Africa in the 2006 World Junior Championship.
