Biographical Information

Ezequiel Pagán has played in the minors and for the Puerto Rican national team.

Pagán was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 13th round of the 2018 Amateur Draft, and he signed for a $125,000 bonus; the scout was Edwards Guzman . He hit .159/.204/.227 for the AZL Cubs 1 and .271/.407/.313 for the AZL Cubs 2 in his first season. He recorded a .287/.356/.339 batting line for the AZL Cubs 1 in 2019, and he played 9 games with a .263/.364/.263 batting line for the AZL Cubs 2. After the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the minor leagues in 2020, Pagan crushed 6 homers with a .336/.365/.654 batting line for the ACL Cubs in 2021, and he hit .245/.315/.336 for the Myrtle Beach Pelicans and went with the South Bend Cubs. Despite only spending 27 games in the Arizona Complex League, he trailed only Yosy Galan in triples (7 to 5) and he tied for 10th with six home runs.

The Guayanilla native crushed 11 homers for the Pelicans in 2022, and his batting line was .292/.366/.443. He hit .375/.500/.500 in the 2022 U-23 Baseball World Cup, tying for 9th in hits (9). He then extended his solid performance in 2023 as he hit .301/.379/.404 with 5 homers for the South Bend Cubs, and he went 1-for-6 with the Tennessee Smokies. Among Cubs farmhands with 400+ PA, only Reivaj García had a better average that year. Pagan struggled in 2024 for the Smokies, and his batting line was .184/.228/.304 in 67 games. He also went 1-for-7 in the ACL, hitting .277/.382/.447 in South Bend. He had a .253/.319/.470 batting line in 26 games for the Criollos de Caguas in the winter.

In the 2024 Premier 12, Pagán played for Puerto Rico. He was 0-for-2 with a walk versus Team USA in their opener, then he went 2-for-5 against Mexico, with a RBI single against Wilmer Ríos as their starting center fielder. Pagan was 2-for-2 in a 20-8 loss to the Netherlands, with a solo shot off Tom de Blok. Against Venezuela, he went 1-for-3 with 2 walks and a triple against Jose Alvarez. He extended his solid performance versus Panama, and he crushed a solo home run against Jaime Barria in the 3rd inning. Pagan hit .375/.474/.875 with 2 homers in the entire event. Only Sabin Ceballos had a better OPS for the team and he tied 4th in homers for the event.
