Biographical Information[edit]

Sabin Ceballos has played in the minors and for the Puerto Rican national team.

Ceballos hit .345/.478/.598 as a junior college freshman; his team finished third in the 2021 NJCAA Division I Baseball World Series and he was named to the All-Tournament team as well as being named the top defensive player in the event. [1] He also went to the 2022 NJCAA Division I Baseball World Series, producing at a .338/.470/.530 clip for the year. [2] He was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels in the 14th round of the 2022 Amateur Draft, but he didn't sign. Transferring to Oregon, he batted .333/.426/.643 with 18 HR and 70 RBI in 59 games. He tied for third in the Pac-12 Conference in dingers and was 5th in RBI. He set the Oregon Ducks home run record and tied the RBI record. He was named a Rawlings Gold Glove winner to boot. [3]

The Atlanta Braves then selected him in the 3rd round of the 2023 Amateur Draft, the 94th overall pick, and signed him for a $597,500 bonus. He hit .281/.343/.375 for the Augusta GreenJackets and .375/.667/.375 for the FCL Braves in his first season. He played 85 games with a .259/.353/.354 batting line for the Rome Emperors in 2024, and the Braves traded him with Tyler Matzek to the San Francisco Giants for Luke Jackson and Jorge Soler. Ceballos hit .295/.364/.549 with 7 homers for the Eugene Emeralds after the trade (he had 30 doubles and 79 runs for the summer), and he went 3-for-14 in the winter with the Indios de Mayaguez.

The San Juan native then represented Puerto Rico in the 2024 Premier 12, and he was their starting third baseman in all 5 games. Ceballos was 2-for-4 against the USA, and he crushed a solo shot in the 6th inning off Sam Benschoter. That was the only run in a 1-0 upset win; it would be his team's lone win, though he kept on contributing. He was 2-for-4 with a 2-run double against Luis Rodriguez of Mexico, and he went 0-for-2 against the Netherlands in his next game. Ceballos had a 0-for-3 record versus Venezuela, and he bounced back against Panama. He crushed a home run against Kenny Hernández, and he was 3-for-4 with a double. Ceballos hit .412/.500/.882 with 2 home runs and 5 RBI in the entire event. He tied for 4th in homers, tying Ezequiel Pagán for the team lead. He also tied Matt Shaw for 4th in OBP and was 7th in OPS, between Jhonny Santos and Pagán. [4]
