Biographical Information

Finn Bergmann has played in the Bundesliga and for the German national team.

He made his Bundesliga-1 debut in 2016, going 2 for 3 with a walk for the Paderborn Untouchables at age 16. His first hit was off Nils Hartkopf. In 2017, the youngster became the team's starting third baseman, hitting .265/.315/.301 and finishing 7th in the Bundesliga-1 north with 53 assists. During 2018, he batted .278/.413/.443 and fielded .893. He was 10th in the league in RBI, tied for 5th with 8 doubles, was 4th with 21 walks, was 8th in assists (63, between Kazusa Katayama and Callum Murphy) and tied for 7th with 9 errors.

In '19, he had 20 walks and 22 runs in 28 games, producing at a .270/.404/.360 clip. The next year, he slumped to .213/.316/.277. He rebounded to .309/.356/.564 in 2021. He led first basemen in fielding (51 chances error-free, one ahead of Wilson Lee), also seeing action elsewhere. During 2022, he posted a .328/.473/.507 line. He tied Daniel Lamb-Hunt for 4th with 34 runs, tied Lee for 5th in walks (18), was 8th in slugging, ranked 6th in OBP, was 7th in OPS and tied for 6th with 7 errors, now back at the hot corner. In the 2022 U-23 Baseball World Cup, he hit .333/.360/.458 and fielded .867, starting at 3B for Germany usually. He easily led Germany in hits, double runners-up Cody Schultz and David Grimes.

Bergmann was 2-for-16 with two walks, a run and a RBI in the 2023 European Champions Cup. In the 2023 U23 European Championship, he went 2-for-13 with three walks, three runs and two RBI. His regular-season numbers fell a bit, to .270/.349/.395. Alternating between the corner infield slots, his 106 putouts tied Lamb-Hunt for 8th

Finn had his best season to that point in 2024, batting .398/.481/.602 for Paderborn. He was second in batting (.016 behind Eric Brenk), tied for 4th in homers (3), 4th in RBI (17, between Simon Bäumer and Brenk), 2nd in hits (35, one shy of Brenk), tied Quin Cotton for the double lead (9), 4th in runs (21, between Cotton and Ryuta Okada), tied for 4th in walks (12), 3rd in slugging (behind Cotton and Brenk), 3rd in OBP (after Brenk and Shotaro Usui) and second to Brenk in OPS. Playing almost entirely third base, he finished third with 63 assists, tied for the lead with 10 errors but still paced regular third basemen in fielding (.910).

Making Germany' senior national team for the first time, he started in right field in their opener against China. He grounded out against Alan Carter his first time up but then drew a bases-loaded walk from Xudi Suo the next. He finished the event 0-for-7 but with 3 walks, a run and a RBI. He tied for 8th in the qualifiers in walks.
