1956 Rule V Draft
The major league 1956 Rule V Draft was held December 3 in Jacksonville, FL, while the minor league phase was held December 5-6 in the same city. 64 players total were drafted by the major and minor league clubs. Only 9 players were drafted by major league teams (the lowest total since 1935) at a cost of $100,000, while minor league teams selected 55 players at a cost of $174,550.
Cal Neeman was the first choice in the major league portion.
