History, Comments, Contributions[edit]

The 2025 Kansas City Royals started the season slowly after making it to the postseason in 2024, as they were only 8-14 after a loss on April 19th. They then turned things around completely starting with an extra-inning win over the Detroit Tigers on April 20th that was the first of six consecutive wins and nine in ten games. At the end of the day on May 1st, they had improved their record to 17-15. There was still one area of concern however, which was that their 15 homers to that point were the fewest in the major leagues. They changed that in a three-game series at Oriole Park at Camden Yards on May 2-4. This was where they had upset the Baltimore Orioles in the Wild Card Series the year before, but the ballpark's dimensions had been chanced since, with the Orioles bringing in the fence. This was all to the Royals' liking, as after being shut out by Dean Kremer and two relievers in the opening game of the series, they had their first three-homer game in 4-0 win in the middle game, then exploded for a team record seven long balls in the finale, an 11-6 win. They had hit six homers three times before, the last in 2020, but never that many. Maikel Garcia went deep twice, with Jonathan India, Bobby Witt Jr., Vinnie Pasquantino, Luke Maile and Michael Massey following suit; all but Massey's were solo shot, the latter hit with one man on in the 9th. The Orioles hit four homers of their own, all solo shots, and the ten solo homers between the two teams tied a major league record accomplished twice before.
