Biographical Information[edit]

Keoni De Renne hit .227/.227/.227 with one run and two RBI in six games for Team USA in the 1998 Baseball World Cup, but handled 17 chances error-free as their main second baseman.

After being drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 12th round of the 2000 Amateur Draft from the University of Arizona, De Renne had an eleven year professional playing career. He played eight years with various MLB organizations, hitting .263/.338/.343 while appearing in 699 games. Primarily a middle infielder, De Renne played other positions on occasion. Outside of affiliated ball, De Renne played for the York Revolution in the independent Atlantic League from 2007-2009.

In 2012, De Renne began his coaching career as a player/coach for the GCL Pirates. He embarked on his only managerial stint in 2013 as skipper of the DSL Pirates 2. De Renne was the hitting coach of the West Virginia Power in 2014-2015 and Bradenton Marauders in 2016-2017. After the latter season, he worked as a hitting coach for the Glendale Desert Dogs in the Arizona Fall League. De Renne spent a final season in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization as hitting coach of the Altoona Curve in 2018. De Renne won two league championships as a coach, including the first season in 2012 with the Gulf Coast League Pirates, and with Bradenton in 2016.

De Renne moved to the Chicago Cubs organization in 2019 as hitting coach for the Iowa Cubs. The Kansas City Royals enticed De Renne away from the Cubs in 2020 when they named him their Minor League Assistant Hitting Coordinator. He continued in this role in 2021 and then the Royals promoted him to their major league staff in 2022 as an assistant hitting coach. De Renne remained an assistant hitting coach through the 2025 season.

De Renne's great-grandfather, Wilbur Cooper, played for the Pirates from 1912-1924 and holds the franchise record for career wins as a pitcher with 202.
