History, Comments, Contributions[edit]
After trading for Ichiro Suzuki from the Seattle Mariners in July, the 2012 New York Yankees employed a lineup with Suzuki, Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter, all of whom had 2,500 or more hits in the majors. No big league club had posted such a lineup since the 1927 Philadelphia Athletics. Despite the big names, the Yankees never had a lead in the 2012 ALCS, only the second team to do so in a League Championship Series (the 1984 Kansas City Royals were the other).

- AL Silver Slugger Award: Robinson Cano (2B) and Derek Jeter (SS)
