Phạm Mạnh Chiến has been on the Vietnamese national team.
He was named Best Pitcher in the 2023 Vietnamese Baseball Major Series. [1] He was a board member of the Vietnam Baseball Softball Association while still an active player. [2] In the 2025 Southeast Asian Games, he took the hill for Vietnam in their first international tournament since the 2011 Southeast Asian Games; he was their oldest player, a couple months older than Ngo Duc Thuy. He was roughed up by Silver Medalist Thailand, allowing 8 hits, a walk and 9 runs (8 earned) in 2 1/3 IP; Dang Dinh Bao took over. He took the loss as Kamolphan Kanjanavisut, Phuriphat Promma and Wissaroot Sihamat teamed up on a no-hitter. He finished the Games at 0-1, with a 27.00. The first batter he struck out was Singapore's Benedict Sheng Rong Kao. He fielded .818 while playing catcher, pitcher, first, short and third, actually manning all five positions in one of their games (against Indonesia. Offensively, he hit .267/.250/.333 with 4 RBI in 5 games. He got his first hit off Wan Nazirul of Malaysia. In that game, Vietnam's lone win, he drove in a pair. He was among the event leaders in assists (10, tied Bee Sengsoulin and Joshua Tam for 9th), errors (6, 4th), steals allowed as a catcher (14, 3rd, behind Nee Va Va and Saidi Muhammad Aliff Fakhri Idrus), runners thrown out stealing (2, tied for 5th), pitching appearances (3, tied for 9th), wild pitches (5, tied Aiman Faqih and Ilya Sulaiman Dali for 2nd), hit batsmen (6, tied Nazirul for 4th), hits allowed (16, tied Akmal Muhammad Aqil Harith Azrul for 4th) and runs allowed (19, tied Dang, Faqih and Nguyen Ngoc Lanh for the most). Only Duong Nam Anh pitched more games for Vietnam and only Dang struck out more batters than his 5. He led the team in RBI as no one else had more than 2. [3]
