Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Logan Allen was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 8th round of the 2015 amateur draft and made his professional debut that year with the GCL Red Sox. He was promoted to the Lowell Spinners after 7 games, pitching a total of 8 games, all as a starter, with no record and an ERA of 1.11 in 24 1/3 innings. On November 13th, he was traded to the San Diego Padres along with fellow prospects Carlos Asuaje, Javy Guerra and Manuel Margot in return for closer Craig Kimbrel.

He is a good friend of professional wrestler John Cena; the two met accidentally at a steakhouse in Tampa, FL when Allen was still pitching in the minor leagues. Cena was present at Petco Park for Logan's major league debut with the Padres on June 18, 2019. It was a good day for Logan as he pitched 7 scoreless innings to defeat the Milwaukee Brewers, 4-1. After the game, Cena handed him $1, the result of a bet he made with him that day in Tampa, when, as a form of motivation for his new friend, he had bet him he would never make the Show. "If I lose, when you make it to the major leagues, I will come and personally pay you one dollar on the mound at a San Diego Padres game," the wrestler had posted on social media at the time. He went 2-3, 6.75 in 8 games, including 4 starts, then on July 30th he was involved in a major three-team trade also featuring the Cincinnati Reds that saw him join the Cleveland Indians. The biggest names in that trade were pitcher Trevor Bauer and outfielders Yasiel Puig and Franmil Reyes.

While he was on the Indians' 40-man roster in 2020, the Indians drafted another pitcher named Logan Allen in the 2nd round of the 2020 amateur draft. His namesake is also a lefthander, from Florida International University. He made three relief appearances for the Indians that year, with no decisions and a 3.38 ERA. In 2021, he was inserted in the starting rotation and on April 28th, he had a dreadful 1st inning against the Minnesota Twins. Byron Buxton went deep on his second pitch of the game, soon followed by Josh Donaldson, who also homered. He then walked Nelson Cruz before coughing up yet another homer, by Jorge Polanco. After four batters, he was down, 4-0. He somehow managed to complete the inning, but after giving up a couple more runs in the 2nd, he was out of the game and charged with a 10-2 loss. He went 2-7, 6.26 in 14 games, 11 of them starts, that season.

In 2022, he started the season for the Guardians, going 1-0, 4.50 in 4 games then on May 5th was claimed off waivers by the Baltimore Orioles. He pitched 1 2/3 innings for them in the big leagues, giving up 3 runs, and was 1-0, 8.51 in 21 games as a reliever for the AAA Norfolk Tides. He was released in August and was picked up by the Colorado Rockies, finishing the season with the Albuquerque Isotopes, where he went 1-3, 6.43 in 6 starts. In 2023, he spent a full season in AAA, first with Albuquerque, where he was 1-0, 7.20 in 24 games in relief, and then with the Tacoma Rainiers after signing as a free agent with the Seattle Mariners in mid-August. He turned things around after the change of organizations, going 5-2, 4.66 in 14 games mainly as a starter. He changed organizations again after that season, signing with the Arizona Diamondbacks for 2024. He was 6-3, 5.23 in 20 games as a starter for the AAA Reno Aces, and 901, 5.46 with 1 save, his first in the majors, in 12 games for Arizona.

In 2025, he moved to the Korea Baseball Organization where playing for the NC Dinos he made 31 starts in 32 appearances, logged 173 innings and finished at 7-12, 4.53. His 149 strikeouts that season were the most he had ever recorded for a single team in a season, although, he had managed 152 between two minor league levels in 2018.

His father is originally from Lachine, QC, and in late 2025 he reached out to Team Canada to see whether they would be interested in having him on the roster for the 2026 World Baseball Classic. He was added to the team, but until he contacted them, Baseball Canada was unaware that he was potentially eligible to play for the Maple Leaf.
