Southern States Athletic Conference
(Redirected from Georgia Athletic Conference)
The Southern States Athletic Conference is an NAIA conference with members in Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Nine of the ten current schools (not including women's college Columbia) sponsor baseball.
The conference was formed as the Georgia Athletic Conference in 1993-1994 by 9 schools leaving the Georgia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The conference added school in Alabama and South Carolina and changed names to Georgia Alabama Carolina Conference in 1999, and eventually adopted its current name in July 2004.
For 2010-2011, Berry College will be moving up to NCAA Division III and six schools will be joining the conference. Belhaven, Loyola University New Orleans, Spring Hill, Mobile, and William Carey will leave the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference while Truett-McConnell is currently an independent.
