The state of Georgia is located in the southeastern United States, on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. Its capital and largest city is Atlanta, GA, which first hosted Major League Baseball in 1966, when the Milwaukee Braves relocated to become the Atlanta Braves. However, professional baseball dates back much further, as Atlanta was a fixture in the Southern Association for decades, and some teams held their spring training in the state, for example in Waycross, GA where Milwaukee had established its minor league training complex in the 1950s.

A Georgia State League was active at various times during the first half of the 20th Century but last played a season in 1956. There was also a Georgia-Alabama League and a Georgia-Florida League at various times. These days, it is the International League and the South Atlantic League that hosts minor league baseball in the state.
