Biographical Information[edit]

Brian Burres was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the 31st round of the 2000 amateur draft. He was signed by San Francisco scout John Shafer.

He spent 2006 to 2008 with the Baltimore Orioles organization, until he was designated for assignment by the Orioles in early 2009. He was claimed by the Toronto Blue Jays on February 4, 2009.

Early in the 2009 season, after starting the season at AAA Las Vegas he was one of two temporary replacements called up to fill in for injured Jays starters Jesse Litsch and Ricky Romero. After being roughed up in two starts, with an ERA over 14.00, he was sent back down to AAA alongside struggling starter David Purcey and former top draft pick Bryan Bullington, as the Blue Jays brought up three young pitchers to try to patch up their injury-riddled staff.
