Biographical Information

Tomofumi Matsumoto hit .286 with 7 homers and 2 Best Nine awards in his college career, and the Hiroshima Carp picked him in the 7th round of the 1999 NPB draft. He was 4-for-30 in 2000, and he only got 2 at-bats combined in the next two seasons. Matsumoto then went 1-for-17 in 2003, and he struggled again in 2004 as he had a 2-for-21 record. He hit .303/.477/.515 in 2005, and he announced his retirement. He then became a scout, signingShota Dobayashi, Shoichi Futamata, Ginji Hasebe, Takahiro Iwamoto, Ryosuke Kikuchi, Ryoji Kuribayashi, Aren Kuri, Ryuya Matsumoto, Michito Miyazaki, Naoki Nakahigashi, Kento Nakamura, Takayoshi Noma, Ryoma Nishikawa, Taichi Saito, Minoru Ohmori, Keisuke Sato, Norihiko Tanaka, Kazuki Yabuta and Masaya Yano.
