The Salt Lake City Bees were long-time members of both the Pacific Coast League and Pioneer League. They were in the PCL from 1915 through 1925, 1958 to 1965 and 1970, after which they changed their name to Angels. In the Pioneer League, they were members from 1939 to 1942, 1946 to 1957 and finally in 1969. The name was also used by the Salt Lake City entry in the Utah-Idaho League from 1926-1928.
The later Salt Lake City Buzz chose their name in part to pay homage to the Bees heritage.
In November 2005, the Salt Lake Stingers changed their name to the Salt Lake Bees, reviving the ancient nickname once again.
