Biographical Information[edit]

Following a brief minor league career, Howie Gershberg became a longtime pitching coach. He first coached at St. John's University where he tutored John Franco and Frank Viola. He then became a minor league pitching coach with the Angels from 1985 to his death in 2003. He helped with the early development of Troy Percival, Jarrod Washburn, John Lackey, Francisco Rodriguez and Chuck Finley among many others. He coach the Salem Angels in 1985 and Lake Elsinore Storm from 1994-1996 [1].
