He relieved Mar Joseph Carolino in the 4th inning against Japan, and Keisho Amiya reached the base due to an error. De Guzman then retired Ryosuke Aizawa to end the inning, and he forced Tomoya Furukawa to ground out in the next inning. He then plunked Shinnosuke Nishimura, struck out Yuki Sato and walked Shohei Mizutani. Yuki Tsujimoto then hit a grounder, and de Guzman was the only Filipino that didn't allow a run in the game. He was the starter against Pakistan, and he completed 4 1/3 innings with two runs allowed and 2 strikeouts. De Guzman started again versus Hong Kong in their last game, and he pitched 4 shutout innings with only 4 hits allowed. [1]
