History, Comments, Contributions[edit]

After their 1998 season, the Arizona Diamondbacks made headlines by signing free agent pitcher Randy Johnson. The club's new acquisition did not disappoint, going 17-9 with a 2.48 ERA and winning the 1999 National League Cy Young Award. The Diamondbacks went on to win 100 games and capture the NL West division title. However, the team's season came to a close as they lost to the New York Mets in the NLDS .
