History, Comments, Contributions
The infield had Howie Schultz at first base, Eddie (the violin) Basinski at second, Brown at short, and Frenchy Bordagaray at third base. The catcher was Clyde Sukeforth, later a coach. Pitchers included Hal Gregg, Art Herring, Curt Davis, Ed Head and Hugh Casey (who later committed suicide).
Leo Durocher was the manager.
They set a franchise record by losing 14 consecutive games from June 28-July 16. No Dodgers team since that year has had a losing streak longer than 11 games. They might not have won many games, but they were loved.
