History, Comments, Contributions[edit]
The 1932 Boston Red Sox established a record by being mathematically eliminated on August 10th. That date was later matched by the 1962 New York Mets and the 2018 Baltimore Orioles, but has never been topped. Their record of 14-56 after 70 games was the worst in baseball history (post-1900) until eclipsed by the 2025 Colorado Rockies, who were one game worse.
