[1] In the 2024 U-23 Baseball World Cup, though, he was 2-0 with a 0.82 ERA; in 17 IP, he walked none and struck out 11. He trailed only Hyun-seok Choi in victories, beating Australia and Nicaragua. He played for the Sichuan Dragons in the China Baseball League, and he was on China's roster for the 2026 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. He relieved Lun Zhao in the 5th inning against pool champion Colombia, and he retired Brayan Buelvas and Dilson Herrera first. Zhao then gave up a RBI single to Jesús Marriaga, and he forced Francisco Acuña to fly out. He walked Michael Arroyo in the next inning, and Arroyo was caught stealing by catcher Shuai Wang. Zhao retired Harold Ramírez and Jie Zhou succeeded him. He later relieved Xudi Suo in the 3rd inning against Brazil, and Vítor Ito greeted him with a single. Zhao got Gabriel Gomes and Gabriel Maciel out, but he then allowed a RBI double to Osvaldo Carvalho Jr. Second baseman Tianyuan Hu then missed a normal flyball by Dante Bichette, Jr., and two runners scored. Zhao allowed another run due to Lucas Rojo's single, and he finally retired Victor Mascai to end his work. [3]
