Biographical Information[edit]

Jaryd White has been on the South African national team.

In the 2019 U-18 Baseball World Cup, he lost to the USA's Kyle Harrison and Nicaragua's Williams Pravia. He had a 16.71 ERA over three outings, was 0 for 8 at the plate and fielded .923 as a 1B/P/2B. He led the event with 20 hits allowed (5 more than runners-up Wei Zhao and Kade Smith) and trailed only teammates Mila Burger and Smith in runs allowed, while tying for the loss lead. [1] During the 2022 U-23 Baseball World Cup, he dropped decisions to Germany's Florian Kawczynski and Cuba's Alexander Valiente, with a 10.50 ERA. He tied four others (two of them fellow South Africans) for the most losses and allowed the most hits (18, 4 more than Víctor Vargas). He gave up the most runs (13) and earned runs (13). [2]

After going to junior college in the US, he was with South Africa's senior team by the 2026 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers in early 2025. He made one appearance, relieving Josh Tribe in the 9th with one out, the bases loaded and a 6-1 deficit against Spain. Engel Beltre hit a sacrifice fly and Daniel Jiménez a two-run single to bring in all three inherited runners. He retired Jesús Ustariz and was one of three South African hurlers with a 0.00 ERA for the event; Dylan Unsworth and Daniel Mendelsohn were the others. [3]
