Biographical Information[edit]
Josh Tribe has pitched for the South African national team.
Tribe was 0-1 with a 4.85 ERA in the 2024 U23 Baseball World Cup, losing to Venezuela. Only Keenan Campbell had a better ERA for South Africa. [1] He next appeared for them in the 2026 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, debuting against Spain. He relieved Justin Erasmus in the 6th with a 5-1 deficit and began by retiring Carlos Colmenarez and Gabriel Lino. He allowed a Frank Hernández single but retired Andrés Angulo. He also had a smooth 7th, striking out Wander Encarnación and Rusber Estrada while allowing one baserunner (a walk to Jesús Ustariz). Four of five batters reached in the 8th, though, and he was replaced by Jaryd White, who let all the inherited runners score. Tribe also pitched versus host Taiwan, taking over for Damian Perkins in the 7th with a 5-1 deficit. He retired two but allowed a hit, a walk and two runs; Daniel Mendelsohn was next on the hill. Tribe tied for the pool lead in games pitched (2) and walks (4), tied Erasmus for the team lead in Ks (3) and had the most hit batsmen (3) and runs allowed in the Taiwan pool. [2]
