Team History[edit]

The Tri-City Dust Devils, of the Northwest League and briefly in High-A West, draw their locale name from three Washington cities that are clustered along the Columbia River: Pasco, Kennewick and Richland. The Los Angeles Angels farmhands play their home games at Gesa Stadium in Pasco.

Of them, only Kennewick and Pasco have hosted professional baseball. They lie on opposite banks of the river just 10 miles downstream of Richland. Kennewick previously hosted the Tri-City Atoms, also of the NwL. The 1983 Tri-City Triplets were the first to use the designation "Tri-City" - versus "Tri-Cities" - also used by the Dust Devils.

MLBl's 2021 Minor League Reorganization raised the Devils, and most of the NwL, two levels.

The Portland Rockies moved to the tri-cities when the Triple-A Albuquerque Dukes moved to Portland in 2001. The club changed nicknames immediately, but remained affiliated with the Colorado Rockies through 2014. In 2021 its players became Devils who are working to become Angels. The team is currently (2021) owned by a group led by Hall of Famer George Brett.

The Dust Devils play Copa de la Diversión Hispanic engagement campaign games as Viñeros de Tri-City (Tri-City Vinegrowers).
