July 11: Today's featured birthday is that of Efrain Valdez, who turns 60.
- 1932 - Cubs SS Billy Jurges is shot twice by his girlfriend. No charges are filed and she will go on to sign a contract as a singer.
- 1933 - The first All-Star Game is played. Babe Ruth hits a two-run shot to help the AL to a 4-2 victory.
- 1942 - The 1942 All-Star Game features the only sibling battery in All-Star history, Mort and Walker Cooper.
- 1976 - Despite ten walks, J.R. Richard manages to shut out the Mets, 1-0.
- 1983 - The American League wins its first All-Star Game since 1971, 13-3. Fred Lynn (pictured) hits the first grand slam in the history of the All-Star Game to cap a seven-run 4th inning.
