• 2000 - The Newark Bears invite Darryl Strawberry to join the team while he serves a suspension with Major League Baseball for cocaine use.
• 2000 - Turkey Stearnes, Sparky Anderson and Bid McPhee are elected to the Hall of Fame by the Veterans Committee.
