Biographical Information[edit]
Seiichi Ogawa played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 7 yeas.
Ogawa was drafted by the Hanshin Tigers in the 6th round of the 1970 NPB draft, and he stayed in the NPB Farm Leagues in his first two seasons. He pitched 7 games with a 3.00 ERA in 1973, and he recorded a 4.50 ERA in 22 relief outings in 1974. The Tigers then traded him with Osamu Uetsuji, Masayoshi Moriyama, Hideo Hirayama and Kiyotake Suzuki to the Lotte Orions for Keiichi Inoue and Takenori Ikebe, and he was 1-1 with a 5.92 ERA in 1975. Ogawa improved to 2-0 with a 2.08 ERA in 1976, and he had a 2-2 record with a 4.95 ERA in 1977. His ERA was 3.38 in 6 appearances in 1978, and he only pitched 2 games in 1979. The Orions then traded him with Masaaki Koga to the Yomiuri Giants for Tomohisa Shoji, Susumu Omata and Isao Tamura, but he didn't reach the big club in 1980 and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Ogawa was 6-3 with a 4.29 ERA, struck out 88 and pitched 174 1/3 innings in 7 seasons in NPB.
