Biographical Information[edit]
Isao Tamura played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 10 years.
Tamura signed with the Yomiuri Giants in 1975, and he only pitched one game in his first season. He had a 3.94 ERA in 8 games in 1977, and he recorded a 2.63 ERA in 16 relief outings in 1978. The Giants then traded him with Susumu Omata and Tomohisa Shoji to the Lotte Orions for Masaaki Koga and Seiichi Ogawa, and he allowed 22 runs in 10 2/3 innings in 1980. Tamura only got 2 appearances in 1981, and he went 2-1 with a 6.70 ERA in 1982. He had a 4.76 ERA in 119 relief outings in 1983, and his ERA was 4.83 in 16 games in 1984. Tamura only pitched 3 2/3 innings in 1985, and he was traded to the Nankai Hawks for cash. He allowed 2 runs in 4 2/3 innings in 1986, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Tamura was 6-2 with a 5.58 ERA, struck out 82 and pitched 175 2/3 innings in 10 seasons in NPB.
