Mountain West Conference
The Mountain West Conference was conceived on May 26, 1998, when the presidents of eight institutions -- Air Force, Brigham Young, Colorado State, New Mexico, San Diego State, UNLV, Utah and Wyoming -- decided to leave the Western Athletic Conference and form a new NCAA Division I-A intercollegiate athletic conference. TCU joined the Mountain West in 2005 from Conference USA.
Brigham Young University left the conference after the 2010-2011 year to join the West Coast Conference (except football), while the University of Utah left at the same time to join the Pacific-12 Conference. Texas Christian University left after the 2011-2012 school year, while Fresno State University and University of Nevada joined in the 2012-2013 school year. San Jose State University and non-baseball school Utah State University joined in 2013-2014.
