Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Kory DeHaan played college ball at Morningside College before being drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 7th round of the 1997 Amateur Draft. He played in the Pirates minor league system for three years before moving to the San Diego Padres organization in 2000. DeHaan made his major league debut on April 25, 2000. He returned to the minor leagues in 2001 and remained there through 2003 except for a brief call-up to the majors in 2002.

After several years away from professional baseball, DeHaan returned in 2009 as a hitting coach for the Chico Outlaws of the independent Golden Baseball League. On July 24th, he replaced Greg Cadaret as manager for the remainder of the season. DeHaan went back to the Padres organization for the next two years as a hitting coach for the AZL Padres in 2010 and Fort Wayne TinCaps in 2011.

In 2012, DeHaan moved to the Pirates organization as hitting coach of the Bradenton Marauders. He continued as a hitting coach with the Jamestown Jammers in 2013, the Marauders again in 2014, and GCL Pirates in 2015. The Pirates promoted DeHaan to manager of the Bristol Pirates in 2016. He was scheduled to manage Bristol in 2017, but was replaced by Miguel Perez on June 12th shortly before the Appalachian League season started. DeHaan worked as a Minor League Outfield Instructor for the remainder of the season. These moves were part of a larger reshuffling in the Pirates player development department. DeHaan spent 2018-2019 as a hitting coach for the GCL Pirates. He was slated to return to Bradenton in 2020 before the minor league season was cancelled due to COVID-19.

DeHaan left the Pirates organization in 2021 and worked as a head coach at the IMG Academy. In 2022, he took over hitting coach responsibilities for IMG Academy's national team under head coach Dave Turgeon. He remained in this position through June, 2023. At that time, he became the head coach for the Palmetto High School Tigers where he remained through the 2025 season.

In addition, DeHaan is co-owner of HitLab Palmetto since mid-2022.[1]
