Pitcher Drew Gagnon began his professional career in 2011.
He was originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 10th round of the 2008 amateur draft out of high school, a couple of picks ahead of utility player Chris Herrmann. He did not sign. He was then drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the third round of the 2011 amateur draft, one pick ahead of pitcher Logan Verrett. He signed a contract; the scout was Josh Belovsky.
After struggling to an 8.05 ERA his first campaign, Gagnon was 7-3 with a 2.83 ERA in 25 starts between the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and Brevard County Manatees in 2012. He was 7-13 with a 5.43 mark between two clubs in 2013, but rebounded to go 11-6 with a 3.97 ERA in 28 starts for the Huntsville Stars in 2014. He reached Triple A for the first time in 2015 and struggled, going 1-11 with a 6.93 ERA in 20 games for the Colorado Springs Sky Sox. He was 2-12, 6.67 on the year as a whole, having spent time at Double A as well. He began 2016 back with Colorado Springs.
He was a Mid-Season All-Star in 2012 and 2014.
His brother is Tyler Gagnon.
