Team History[edit]

The Columbia Fireflies began play in the South Atlantic League in 2016 after moving from Savannah, GA, where the team was the Savannah Sand Gnats. The last team to play in Columbia, the Capital City Bombers, had left after the 2004 season, because of an outdated ballpark. The city voted to build a new, state-of-the-art stadium, Spirit Communications Park, in order to attract another team.
