Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Carson Seymour was drafted by the New York Mets in the 6th round of the 2021 amateur draft, out of Kansas State University, from where he had transferred from Ivy League Dartmouth College. His college numbers were far from great, although he had been pitching well for the Wildcats when the COVID-19 pandemic had interrupted the season after he had made just 4 starts, but he had done a lot better while playing summer collegiate ball. While he spent his college years in the Northeast and in the Midwest, he is a southern California boy through and through, having been born in the suburbs of San Diego, CA and gone to high school in the area as well.

He began his pro career in 2021 with the FCL Mets, appearing in just four games. In 2022, he started the year with the St. Lucie Mets of the Florida State League, going 4-0, 1.19 in 7 games to earn a quick promotion to the Brooklyn Cyclones. He was 1-5, 3.68 after 11 games when he was traded to the San Francisco Giants on August 2nd as one of four players traded in return for Darin Ruf. He finished the year with the Eugene Emeralds in the Northwest League and overall was 7-8, 3.08 in 24 games and 111 innings.

In 2023, he spent a full season in AA with the Richmond Flying Squirrels, going 5-3, 3.99 in 28 games and in 2024 moved up to the AAA Sacramento River Cats where he was 7-10 with an ERA of 4.82. Heading into spring training with the big club in 2025, he was considered one of the top pitching prospects in the organization. In fact the Giants had a trio of young pitchers named Carson: himself, Carson Whisenhunt and Carson Ragsdale. He started that season back at Sacramento, where he was 3-8, 3.89 after 15 starts, then was called up to San Francisco on June 27th. He made his major league debut two days later, pitching an inning of scoreless relief in a 5-2 loss to the Chicago White Sox.
