Biographical Information

Aaron Krawiec pitched in the Chicago Cubs system from 2000 to 2005, peaking at Double-A. He was taken by the club in the 3rd round of the 2000 amateur draft, a couple picks ahead of future star Grady Sizemore.

He went 6-4 with a 2.54 ERA in 14 starts for the Eugene Emeralds his initial campaign, striking out 99 in 78 innings of work. He was second in the Northwest League in strikeouts, behind Wilton Chavez's 103. He slipped to 7-11, 4.58 for the Lansing Lugnuts in 2001, leading the Midwest League in hits allowed (183) and finishing second in runs allowed (108, behind Jon Leicester's 117), but he still had 170 Ks in 153 1/3 innings. He was second in the loop in strikeouts, behind Clint Nageotte's 187. In 2002, he was 7-10 with a 4.09 ERA in 28 starts for the Daytona Cubs, tying Yoel Hernández for the Florida State League lead in starts and finishing second in earned runs allowed (77, behind Keith Bucktrot's 87) and innings pitched (169 1/3, behind Hernandez's 170 1/3). He then played three more truncated seasons to wrap up his career.

Overall, he went 23-31 with a 3.90 ERA in 86 games (81 starts). In 473 innings, he allowed 488 hits and 137 walks (1.321 WHIP), while striking out 436 batters.

He later became a scout for the St. Louis Cardinals, signing Brian Broderick, Xavier Scruggs, Colt Sedbrook, Jordan Swagerty and Niko Vasquez.
