Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Colt Sedbrook played in the St. Louis Cardinals system from 2008 to 2012, peaking at Double-A.

He was drafted three times. Initially, he was taken by the Colorado Rockies in the 42nd round of the 2004 amateur draft, but opted not to sign. He was next taken by the Chicago Cubs in the 42nd round of the 2007 amateur draft, but again, he didn't sign. He finally inked a contract after being taken by the Cardinals in the 22nd round of the 2008 amateur draft, one pick after pitcher Preston Guilmet. He was signed by scout Aaron Krawiec.

Though he hit .305/.394/.396 with 2 home runs, 33 RBI and 13 steals in 71 games for the Batavia Muckdogs his first year, Sedbrook struggled to a .229/.350/.307 line in 2009 and a .202/.343/.254 line in 2010 to wrap up his career. In 2008, he was a New York-Penn League Mid-Season All-Star, a Baseball America Short-Season All-Star and a Topps Short-Season/Rookie All-Star. That year, he tied Kirk Nieuwenhuis for the league lead in plate appearances (319) and was tops in hit by pitches (17). He also tied Anthony Scelfo for second in times caught stealing (8), behind Derek Norris' 9. In 2009, he tied Adron Chambers, Reid Fronk and Aaron Luna for second in the Florida State League in hit by pitches (16), behind Seth Williams' 18.

Overall, he hit .243/.360/.317 with 8 home runs, 89 RBI and 41 steals in 279 games. He was hit by 60 pitches.

He became the head coach at Crown College in 2024, replacing Brooks Repking.
