The 1998 College World Series was played at Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, NE from May 29 to June 6. The participating schools qualified by winning one of eight 6-team regional tournaments. The fifty-second tournament's champion was the University of Southern California coached by Mike Gillespie. The Most Outstanding Player was Wes Rachels of the University of Southern California.
