[edit] Biographical Information

Charlie Chant was an outfielder who appeared in 20 games in the major leagues in the mid-1970s. Not only is his name remarkably like the mystery character "Charlie Chan", but his name is also one of the few major league names where both the first and last name start with "Ch".

A reporter once asked Oakland A's pitcher Dave Hamilton whether Charlie Chant was of Chinese background. Hamilton responded "No, he's a right fielder". Hamilton had also played with Chant in Tucson.
