Biographical Information

Yuto Takahama played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 5 years. His brother Takuya Takahama also played in NPB.

Takahama was drafted by the Nippon Ham Fighters in the 7th round of the 2014 NPB draft, and he hit .256/.338/.364 in he NPB Farm Leagues in 2015; he also got 2 at-bats with the top team. He had a .262/.344/.414 batting line in 2016, and he led the Eastern League with 23 doubles (tied with Naoki Shirane). Takahama then had a .295/.377/.438 batting line in 2017, and he won the Eastern League batting title. He was 2-for-11 with the big club in '17, but he slumped to .205/.293/.301 in 2018 so he stayed in the minors for the entire season. Takahama struggled again in 2019, and his batting line was .220/.304/.341.

The Saga native was 6-for-19 in 2020, and he replaced Sho Nakata to become the starting first baseman in 2021. Takahama played 107 games, and he crushed 8 homers with a .262/.305/.390 batting line. However, his spot was taken by Kotaro Kiyomiya in 2022, and he only got 17 at-bats for the top team. the Fighters then traded him with Ryo Watanabe to the Hanshin Tigers for Yukiya Saito and Taiga Egoshi, but he failed to return to the big club before he announced his retirement in 2024.

Overall, Takahama hit .252/.296/.365 with 105 hits and 8 homers in 5 seasons in NPB.
