Biographical Information[edit]

Taiga Egoshi played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 10 years.

Egoshi hit .236 with 11 homers in his college career, and he won three Best Nine awards. He was drafted by the Hanshin Tigers in the 3rd round of the 2014 NPB draft; the scout was Takayoshi Nakao. He crushed 5 homers with a .214/.250/.387 batting line in 2015, and he played 72 games with a .209/.284/.361 batting line in 2016. He struggled in 2017 as he was 1-for-18 for the top team, and he went 6-for-40 in 2018. Egoshi crushed 15 homers with a .212/.328/.412 batting line in the minor Western League, and he ranked 2nd in homers (5 behind Alejandro Mejia), 3rd in steals (25, between Kairi Shimada and Takahiro Kumagai) and 3rd in steals (21 behind Mejia). The Nagasaki native went 8-for-16 in 2019, and he was 11-for-43 in 45 games in 2020. He only got 7 at-bats combined in the next two seasons, and he was traded with Yukiya Saito to the Nippon Ham Fighters for Ryo Watanabe and Yuto Takahama. Egoshi played a career-high 100 games in 2023, but his batting line was .180/.244/.333 with 5 homers. He then went 0-for-10 in 2024, and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Egoshi hit .184/.245/.326 with 111 hits and 18 homers in 10 seasons in NPB; he had 674 plate appearances over 453 games. He had batted .237/.330/.427 in the Japanese minors.
