Biographical Information[edit]
Takuya Takahama had played in the Nippon Pro Baseball for 10 years. His brother Yuto Takahama also played in NPB.
Takahama was drafted by the Yokohama BayStars and the Hanshin Tigers in the first round of the 2007 NPB draft, and the Tigers won the lottery for the rights to him. He was placed in the NPB Farm Leagues in his first three seasons, then the Chiba Lotte Marines selected him as compensation for losing free agent Hiroyuki Kobayashi. Takahama went 10-for-48 in 2011, but he only got 8 appearances combined for the big club in the next two seasons. He hit .355/.438/.455 to win the batting title of the Eastern League in 2014 (.008 ahead of Ikuhiro Kiyota); he also led in OBP (.014 ahead of Kiyota) and was 5th in slugging; he also hit .232/.293/.333 in 36 games for the top team.
The Saga native had a .286/.302/.333 batting line in 33 games in 2015, then he crushed 3 homers with a .215/.257/.319 batting line in 2016. Takahama went 6-for-35 in 2017, and he only played 10 games in the major league in 2018. Takahama only got 15 at-bats combined in the next three seasons, and he announced his retirement in 2021.
Overall, Takahama hit .220/.259/.296 with 84 hits and 3 homers in 10 seasons in NPB. He only had 420 plate appearances spread out over 212 games as a backup infielder.
