The 2020 season was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic; he had a 0-2, 5.28 record and batted .189/.268/.216. Used solely as a pitcher in '21, he fell to 1-3, 7.71 with two saves, walking 27 in 30 1/3 innings. He rebounded to 5-3 with a 4.09 ERA in 2022, fanning 79 in 61 2/3 IP. He went deep five times in 57 AB, hitting .316/.375/.596. He was 8th in the South Atlantic Conference in strikeouts.

The St. Louis Cardinals chose him in the tenth round of the 2022 amateur draft and decided to use him exclusively on the mound. He spent the summer with the FCL Cardinals (1-0, 0 R in 2 IP) and Palm Beach Cardinals (6.23 ERA in 4 G). He returned to Palm Beach in '23, going 4-2 with five saves, a 4.19 ERA and 74 K in 53 2/3 IP. Moving up to the Peoria Chiefs, he had a 3-10, 4.08 record with five saves in 2024. He tied for third in the Midwest League in losses and tied Jay Driver for 6th in appearances (40). In the Cards system, he trailed only Brycen Mautz and Max Rajcic in losses, tied for 8th in saves and tied Jack Ralston and Ryan Shreve for 8th in games pitched.

Improving in 2025, he went 6-5 with two saves and a 3.20 ERA for Peoria. Let go by St. Louis, he wound up with the independent Long Island Ducks, going 3-0 with a 4.00 ERA. He then was a late addition to the Israeli team for the 2026 World Baseball Classic, after Josh Blum, Eli Morgan and Robert Stock withdrew, leaving some spots open on the staff. Like most of the team, he was born in the US, with Assaf Lowengart being the lone native-born Israeli. His lone outing was a rough one. Relieving Daniel Federman in the 7th with a 6-1 deficit, he faced the Dominican national team, which led the event in OPS. Oneil Cruz greeted him with a double then he got Agustín Ramírez on a grounder. He walked Geraldo Perdomo, who stole second, then Fernando Tatis Jr. singled in a pair. Tatis was caught stealing as Jacobson walked Ketel Marte then he issued a free pass to Juan Soto before retiring Manny Machado. In the 8th, he walked Junior Caminero, Carlos Santana singled and he walked Cruz. After Ramírez grounded in a run, Jake Fishman relieved. Jacobson wound up tying Liván Moinelo for 3rd in the Classic in walks, behind Joao Marostica and Joseph Contreras, as he tied Ben Simon for his team's worst ERA. [2]
