Biographical Information[edit]
Josh Blum has pitched in the minors.
He had a 0.75 ERA in high school and was All-District in both baseball and football. [1] He allowed 14 runs (13 earned) in 9 2/3 IP as a freshman at USC but improved to 3-0, 3.34 as a sophomore, fanning 40 in 32 1/3 IP. Becoming the closer as a junior, he was 2-1 with 10 saves and a 1.87 ERA, whiffing 45 in 32 2/3 IP. He had the most saves by a USC reliever in 17 years. He was third in the Pac-12 Conference in saves behind Bridger Holmes and Micah Ashman and made All-Conference. [2]
The New York Mets took him in the 16th round of the 2024 amateur draft; the scout was Rusty McNamara. [3] He split 2025 between the Brooklyn Cyclones (2 Sv, 2.36 in 15 G) and St. Lucie Mets (5-0, 3 Sv, 4.31 in 20 G). He then made the Israeli national team for the 2026 World Baseball Classic. [4] He was Israel's youngest player, seven months younger than Ryan Prager. He was injured, though, and was replaced by Jake Fishman. [5]
